PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten length of a damper for generating attenuating force with electromagnetic force of a motor, and to facilitate maintenance. SOLUTION: This damper is provided with a rack 4, a pinion gear 2 engaged with the rack 4, the motor 1 connected to the pinion gear 2, and a holding member 3 for holding the motor 1 and for slidably holding the rack 4 at two points or more.
