PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavator which is available in a reverse method, and can carry out excavation without degrading excavation torque even at a deep location in an excavated hole. SOLUTION: While excavating the ground G, the excavator 1A pours a predetermined amount of water into the excavated hole H, and conveys muddy water which is a mixture of excavated earth and the water, up to the ground. The excavator 1A is formed of a cylindrical upper pipe 12A suspended from the ground and having a length corresponding to the depth of the excavated hole H; a cylindrical shaft connected to a lower end of the upper pipe 12A; a hydraulic motor 15 equipped with an output section rotating about the shaft; a cutter 17A connected to the output section, and rotatable upon driving of the hydraulic motor 15 to excavate the ground G, a water feeding means 30 for feeding the predetermined amount of water to the excavated hole H, and a slurry pump 41 for conveying the muddy water up to the ground.
