PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering member mounting structure capable of fixing a steering member to a dash side panel at plural positions, without requiring a mask covering a fastening hole or a hole on an instrument panel. SOLUTION: In the steering member mounting structure, platy members 9 are provided on both ends of the steering member 4, and attached to the dash panel sire 7. A plurality of stud bolts 13, 14 protrusively provided on the dash panel side 7 and stud bolts 13, 14 formed on front part sides of the platy members 9 are engaged. The steering member mounting structure is provided with a plurality of notches 16, 17 having tilting notch grooves 16B, 17B extended in a slanting upper direction on a tip end back side; and a U-nut 21 attached to the dash panel side 7 from the outside of a vehicle, and clipping rear part sides of the platy members 9 to fix the platy members 9 to the dash panel side 7. When impact is added due to secondary collision, the platy members 9 are removed from clipping by the U-nut 21, and moved in a slanting lower direction of a vehicle front side while engaging the tilting notch grooves 16B, 17B with the stud bolts 13, 14.
