CYCLIC GMP-BINDING, CYCLIC GMP-SPECIFIC PHOSPHODIESTERASE MATERIALS AND METHODS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel cyclic GMP-binding, cyclic GMP-specific phosphodiesterase (cGB-PDE) polypeptide derived from a human, and a method for identifying compounds which modulate the enzymatic activity thereof.

SOLUTION: A compound affecting phosphodiesterase activity observed in the presence of a test candidate compound is identified as a modulator by assaying the phosphodiesterase activity of the cGB-PDE polypeptide in the presence or absence of the test candidate compound and comparing to the phosphodiesterase activity observed in the absence of the test candidate compound.
