PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave amplifier and a linearizer which can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: In the linearizer 3, a variable attenuator 27 is connected between the first output 13b of a first directional coupler 13 and the first input 15b of a second directional coupler 15. In the variable attenuator 17, a first attenuator 17a capable of varying an attenuation value and a second attenuator 17b having a fixed attenuation value are connected in series. A distortion generator 19 is connected between the first output 13b of the first directional coupler 13 and the first input 15b of the second directional coupler 15. A variable phase shifter 21 is connected between the second output 13c of the first directional coupler 13 and the second input 15c of the second directional coupler 15. In the variable phase shifter 21, a first phase shifter 21a having a variable shifting value and a second phase shifter 21b having a fixed phase shifting value are connected in series. The variable attenuator 17 and the distortion generator 19 are connected in series. The distortion generator 19 has an amplifier including a bipolar transistor 23. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
