PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen driver's getting-on-and-off space to reduce driver's sense of oppression and sense of strain when carrying a vehicle in. SOLUTION: A comb-tooth shaped lift cage 15 is provided in a cage elevating part 3 in a central part of a building 1 so as to elevate and lower freely. A carrying-in-and-off berth 33 provided with belt conveyors 34a, 34b in two front and rear rows reaching the cage elevating part 3 is provided on a floor surface on one side of a first story part of the building 1. A vehicle transfer device 37 for transferring the vehicle 5 among the belt conveyors 34a, 34b and the comb-tooth shaped lift cage 15 is provided in a pit 36 at a lower end of the cage elevating part 3. Shelves 25 storing a comb-tooth shaped pallet 20 so as to bring it in and out on a cage elevating part 3 side are provided at many steps at left and right positions across the cage elevating part 3 except the first story part of the building 1 to form this elevator type parking device. After carrying the vehicle 5 which rides on the carrying-in-and-out berth 33 by the belt conveyors 34a, 34b, it is transferred to the lift cage 15 through the vehicle transfer device 37, and then the elevated vehicle 5 is stored on the shelf 25 together with the comb-tooth shaped pallet 20.
