PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for applying a pasty material uniformly on both sides of a long metallic sheet while stably supporting the pasty material-applied long metallic sheet in an apparatus for conveying the long metallic sheet and applying the pasty material to both sides of the long metallic sheet. SOLUTION: A suction unit for jetting an air current almost parallel in the conveying direction of the long metallic sheet and sucking the long metallic sheet is arranged on the downstream side of a die for applying the pasty material. The long metallic sheet is supported by the air current while keeping a constant distance from the suction unit. The vibration of the long metallic sheet generated by the air current on the downstream side of a supporting position is restrained at the supporting position. Since the distance between the die and the long metallic sheet is kept constant, the pasty material can be applied with uniform thickness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
