<p>A convertible computer controlled form, fill and seal bagging machine (10) and method of operation is described. A film drive (12) draws a film sheet (13) about a pouch former (14) with said film sheet (13) being folded and overlapped along longitudinal edge portions (16). A first sealer (15) heat fuses the overlapped edge portions (16) together to form a hollow film tube (17). A temperature controller (19,29) controls the temperature of the sealing means (15,26). A transverse sealer (26) forms a transverse seal across the hollow film tube (17) and is synchronized with the first sealer (15). A feeder (22,23,24) supplies a predetermined content in said hollow tube (17) at a pouch forming station thereof. A computer controller (21) controls the film drive (12), the sealing time of the first sealer (15), the temperature controller (19,29), the sealing time of said transverse sealer (26), and the rate of feed whereby to produce pouches (25) of a predetermined programmed size filled with a predetermined programmed content volume. The machine (10) has the capability of producing pouches of different sizes with different content volumes by a computer inputting screen (31).</p> |
