The controller includes a control valve for setting an adjustment cylinder to alter the vibration behavior of a vibration machine. A control unit controls the control valve according to a pulse-width modulation signal to set the relative position of unbalance weights depend on the mark-space ratio of the pulse-width modulation signal. Independent claims are included for a soil compaction machine, and for a method of controlling an unbalance weight adjustment device.
