<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance NOx occlusion capacity and improve resistance to sulfur poisoning. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst layer 21 formed on a surface of a cell partition wall 12 exposed in an outflow side cell 11 has a configuration in which a peak value of pore diameter of a macropore measured by a mercury forcibly-feeding method is more than 0.2mμ and 2.0mμ or less and in which an NOx occluding material along with a noble metal is carried. The configuration having the macropore leads to significant improvement of the gas diffusion property so as to improve NOx occluding capacity and quickly restore the NOx occluding capacity of a sulfur-poisoned NOx occluding material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
