PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure versatility in design of a filter such as phase compensation while suppressing increase in an operational load, and to make the suppression of resonance and the responsivity of assist in a normal steering speed area compatible. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device comprises a band preventive filter 15a having a transfer function G<SB>1</SB>(s) for suppressing resonance, and a phase compensator 15b having a transfer function G<SB>2</SB>(s). The G<SB>1</SB>(s) is indicated by an expression (1-1):(s<SP>2</SP>+2ζ<SB>11</SB>ω<SB>1</SB>+ω<SB>1</SB><SP>2</SP>)/(s<SP>2</SP>+2ζ<SB>12</SB>ω<SB>1</SB>+ω<SB>1</SB><SP>2</SP>), and the G<SB>2</SB>(s) is indicated by an expression (2-1):(s<SP>2</SP>+2ζ<SB>21</SB>ω<SB>2</SB>+ω<SB>2</SB><SP>2</SP>)/(s<SP>2</SP>+2ζ<SB>22</SB>ω<SB>2</SB>+ω<SB>2</SB><SP>2</SP>).
