PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner of a small particle diameter having favorable pulverizing property without sacrificing the toner performance such as fixing performance, offset resistance and image stability, and to provide a binder resin for toner to provide the above toner. SOLUTION: The binder resin for toner contains: 50 to 98 mass% of polyester resin (A) having (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component by≥70 parts by mol, (b) 10 to 100 parts by mol of an aliphatic diol component, (c) 0.1 to 30 parts by mol of polyvalent carboxylic acid having the valance of three or higher and/or polyhydric alcohol component having the valance of three or higher, with respect to 100 parts by mol of the entire acid component; and 2 to 50 mass% of resin (B) having 500 to 4,000 weight average molecular weight. By using this binder resin, the obtained polyester-based pulverized toner has 80 mass% jet-mill pulverization efficiency,≤5μm volume average particle diameter, 50 to 70°C glass transition temperature and 100 to 140°C softening temperature.
