FLUORESCENT LAMP AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp in which no deterioration in luminous flux and no deterioration of starting characteristic of the luminous flux occur due to mercury vapor pressure regardless of being a high power compact fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: A lamp main body is constituted by sequentially connecting two or more glass tubes in an approximate U shape with tube interior diameters of 10 to 15mm through a connecting part and a discharge path is formed between a pair of electrodes provided on both ends of the lamp main body via each interior of the glass tubes and interior of the connecting part and light is lit by energizing lamp current of 350 to 500mA to the discharge path. In the lamp, a retaining part is provided to retain amalgam to a position in which the distance from the nearby connecting part in the direction evading from the discharge path is 15 to 25mm on either end parts excluding an end part provided with electrodes, in the end parts of the glass tube.
