PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new zinc complex and a new oxo zirconium complex and to provide a thermosensitive recording material excellent in conserving characteristics by utilizing them.

SOLUTION: The thermosensitive recording material is obtained by utilizing a metal complex synthesized from a specifically structured carboxylic acid and a zinc (II) salt or an oxyzirconium (IV) salt.
