<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein thermal deterioration of an intermediate transfer belt is reduced to the utmost, then, the intermediate transfer belt is usable for a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a transfer/fixing apparatus where a fixation nip part is formed by a secondary transfer part, and a toner image on the intermediate transfer material is fixed on the surface of the transfer material by heating and pressurizing the toner image while making the transfer material pass through the fixation nip part, a heat roller is provided with a hollow metal core bar as a base material, whose thickness is ≥0.2 mm and ≤3.0 mm and whose outer diameter is ≥10 mm and ≤80 mm, and provided with a toner releasing layer whose thickness is ≥10 μm and ≤200 μm on the outer periphery of the core bar, and a heating source for heating the heat roller is arranged inside or outside the heat roller, and the image forming apparatus is provided with a temperature detecting means for detecting the surface temperature of the heat roller and a temperature control mechanism of controlling the drive of the heating source so as to attain a prescribed target temperature, and the target temperature is decided based on the image information, and the temperature control mechanism is operated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
