<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a polymer compound having excellent fuel cell characteristics and a high molecular weight. <P>SOLUTION: The producing method of the polymer compound comprises polymerizing monomers represented by formula (1) or copolymerizing monomers represented by formula (1) and other monomers represented by formula (2) under coexsitence of a condensing agent consisting of a transition-metal complex to produce the polymer compound represented by formula (3). The production method of the polymer compound represented by formula (3) is characterized by allowing the condensation agent and the monomers to act at temperatures of ≥45°C. Formula (1) is X<SP>1</SP>-Ar<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>2</SP>, formula (2) is X<SP>3</SP>-Ar<SP>2</SP>-X<SP>4</SP>, formula (3) is -(Ar<SP>1</SP>)q-(Ar<SP>2</SP>)r-, X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>, X<SP>3</SP>, and X<SP>4</SP>are each a group eliminating on condensation, Ar<SP>1</SP>is, as a substituent, a divalent aromatic group having at least sulfonic acid or the sulfonic acid through a connecting group, q is a positive number, and r is 0 or the positive number, the sum of the q and r being ≥300. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
