<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally operate an occupant crash protection device while suppressing a desired operation. <P>SOLUTION: A slip angleβis determined based on an input of each sensor value (steps 130 and 132), a valueβ<SB>us</SB>for an under-steering state smaller than the reference is determined (step 140) when the travel state is the under-steering state (yes in step 134), and a valueβus for an over-steering state smaller than the reference is determined (step 146) when the travel state is the over-steering state (no in step 134). Then, whether or not the present vehicle state is an emergency state, when the under-steering state or the over-steering state is a threshold (¾β¾>=βth) or higher (yes in step 148), an occupant crash protection auxiliary device 12 is operated.
