PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent difference between enhancement processing of character edge and smoothing processing of dot area from appearing as impairment of image quality around a character in the dot area with characters composited. SOLUTION: The image processor 20 comprises an area-separating section 24 for distinguishing the area of character on dots, a character containing dot area existing around the character on dots, and a no character dot area which does not contain character on dots with regard to at least the dot area; and a spatial filter section 27 filtering the image data belonging to the character containing dot area, using a mixture filter of a filter for character being used for the image data belonging to the area of character on dots, and a dot filter being used for the image data belonging to the no character dot area.
