PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system capable of properly applying equalization processing to even a packet subjected to error correction coding by using a concatenated code as well as a packet subjected to single error correction coding so as to enhance the reliability of data communication. SOLUTION: The wireless communication system for transmitting coded packets by selecting a first coding mode wherein the error correction coding using an inner code is carried out or a second coding mode wherein the error correction coding using the concatenated code is carried out is provided with a means for switching the operation of an equalizer in a receiver depending on the selected coding mode.
