PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in power consumption even in a pipeline type A/D converter having high resolution. SOLUTION: In the pipeline type A/D converter, an operational amplifier 25 is used between sub-DAC of each of two adjacent stages among a first stage to a stage just preceding the final stage. The operational amplifier 25 is switched in time sharing and used so that when the preceding stage is sampled, the operational amplifier 25 is connected to a sample and hold section 23 of the poststage by a switch SW20 to perform a hold operation of the poststage, and when the poststage is sampled, the operational amplifier 25 is connected to a sample and hold circuit section 21 of the preceding stage by a switch SW10 to perform a hold operation of the preceding stage.
