PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection of a heat source in spite of being no heat source e.g. caused by detecting the far infrared ray of the sunlight reflected on a road containing the far infrared ray, regarding the device for detecting the heat source such as a pedestrian. SOLUTION: The heat source detection device which is provided with the infrared ray imaging means 2 for outputting the infrared ray image by imaging the imaging extent, and the visible light ray imaging means 1 for outputting the visible image by imaging the imaging extent of infrared ray imaging means 2, detects the existence of the heat source by comparing the luminance of the infrared image obtained by the infrared ray imaging means 2 with a threshold value while modifying the threshold value based on the luminance of visible image obtained by visible ray imaging means 1.
