PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain sprocket and its manufacturing method capable of attaining smooth de-engagement by suppressing the amount of vertical movement of the chain caused by polygonal behavior at intermeshing-driving, while machining the sprocket tooth at a tooth face roughness excellent in affinity with lubricant, without causing a damage such as chipping at a tip when the sprocket is manufactured. SOLUTION: Multiple sprocket teeth 120 provided on the periphery of a sprocket body 110 comprise a tooth face 122 on the front side in the rotational direction and a tooth face 123 on the rear side in the rotational direction that continuously face a tooth bottom 121. The distance from a virtual reference line x connecting rotational center o of the sprocket body 110 with the center of the sprocket tooth 120, to the tooth face 122 on the front side in the rotational direction of the sprocket tooth 120 as well as the tooth face 123 on the rear side in the rotational direction, is larger than a pitch circle part L at the tooth tip side part beyond a pitch circle pc. The sprocket tooth 120 of the chain sprocket is machined by cutting in the axial direction of sprocket of the sprocket body 110 using by a laser processing means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
