PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device having a simple structure and a small installation space capable of preventing damages to and troubles of an electric motor and a reduction gear caused by overload. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device comprises a drive gear (a worm shaft 51) to be driven by an electric motor 4 while being engaged with a driven gear (a worm wheel 52) on a steering shaft 2 side, an urging means (a coned disk spring 28) to urge the elastic force to the drive gear 51 in the axial direction, and a torque limiter 29 to transmit the torque not higher than a predetermined value between the drive gear 51 and a rotary shaft 4a of the electric motor 4. The torque limiter 29 presses a pair of friction faces 29a and 29b consisting of a rotary surface inclined with respect to a plane orthogonal to the shaft by the urging elasticity of the urging means 28.
