A washing system uses recycled cleaning liquid, such as water, to clean parts and tools that are positioned in a washing basin or sink. In one example, the washing system uses a washer fixture to spray water over a pottery tool that is soiled with a clay or other contaminant. Water, as well as pieces and chunks of the clay and contaminant discharge from the sink through a drain line and into a trap vessel, where heavier pieces of the clay or other contaminant settle. The water and smaller particles flow into a filter vessel, where further contaminants and particles are removed from the water. The filtered water is pumped back to the sprayer, where the water is re-used. The tool is cleaned using recycled cleaning liquid, and without connection to a sewer or drain line.
