A tray for a gas-liquid contact column comprises a series of annular sections of corrugated material resting as shown in Fig. 1 and provided with orifices 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and 3<SP>11</SP>, the sections being welded together along the lines where the edge of one section touches an adjacent section. Liquid flows towards central troughs 4 (Fig. 2) and the perforations are more numerous on the side of the corrugations facing the trough. Liquid from the troughs 4 is distributed at the edges of the next lowest plate by pipes 5 which are vented at 6. In a modification, corrugated perforated sections are arranged to form a rectangular contact plate, liquid flowing from one side of the plate across the plate perpendicularly to the corrugations to liquid outlets arranged at the opposite of the plate.</p> |
