A method for identifying a substance which inhibits or prevents resistance to a chemotherapeutic agent or a radiotherapeutic agent and/or which may be used in the treatment of a cancer, which method comprises determining whether a test substance is an inhibitor of Grp78. Inhibitors of a nitric oxide synthase, inhibitors of Grp78 and substances identified in a method of the invention are useful in therapy.
