<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic garnet single crystal grown by a liquid phase epitaxial (LPE) method and an optical element using the same and particularly to provide a magnetic garnet single crystal of a reduced lead content and to provide an optical element using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic garnet single crystal is grown by a liquid phase epitaxial growth method and is represented by the formula: Bi<SB>3-x-y</SB>M1<SB>x</SB>Pb<SB>y</SB>Fe<SB>5-z-w</SB>M2<SB>z</SB>M3<SB>w</SB>O<SB>12</SB>(wherein M1 is at least one element selected from among Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu; M2 is at least one element selected from among Ga, Al, and In; M3 is at least one element selected from among Pt, Si, Ge, and Ti; 1.5<x<3.0; 0<y<0.01; 0≤z<1.5; and 0≤w<0.01). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
