PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform target image processing by providing a user with useful category classification about image data types and easily retrieving and selecting an image data group to be an image processing target among a plurality of image data groups stored in a recording medium. SOLUTION: A specific (unique) character code showing original image data is given to a free character D2 of a DCF (design rule for camera file system) directory name and a free character F1 of a file name, and the original image data are identified and extracted among a plurality of image file groups including other device image data with high probability on the basis of the character code. When an image acquiring means for a plurality of paths is provided, the character code that is individually unique is allocated to each different input path to thereby be able to identify and extract image data of each different input path.
