PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically maintain the antenna pattern of a single-branch diversity antenna to be optimal at all times without any user operation, in a receiver having the single-branch diversity antenna. SOLUTION: The antenna directivity control apparatus includes two ground conductors 17, 18, and a single-branch diversity antenna 1 of which antenna pattern changes with a value of an impedance 19 connecting between the two ground conductors. The antenna directivity control apparatus also includes antenna pattern selection means 4, 5, 6 and 7 which compares receiving power of received signals for a plurality of antenna patterns including the present antenna pattern, and selects an antenna pattern producing the largest receiving power.
