PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having communication functions with which a user can comfortably communicate by suppressing the generation of audio noise, even if the user unexpectedly contact the touch panel, such as the case where the ear of the user touches the touch panel during communication. SOLUTION: A touch panel press deciding section 700 judges the press status of the touch panel 100, on the basis of whether an upper electrode 10 contacts a lower electrode 12. A communication deciding means 800 judges whether the device is in a communication state. If the section 800 decides that the device is not in a communication state, the lower electrode 12 is connected to any one of a position detection circuit 500 and a display drive circuit 600, according to a decision result of the section 700. If the section 800 decides that the device is in a communication state, the lower electrode 12 is connected to the circuit 600, regardless of the decision result of the section 700.
