PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid outputs of noise even when contents in a format difficult in reproduction are erroneously streaming distributed when the format is applied to an audio device which reproduces streaming of a music file in connection to a home server, with respect to a contents providing apparatus, a contents providing method, a program of the method, and a recording medium with the program recorded. SOLUTION: In a state in which outputs of contents are stopped, only a beginning part of the contents by streaming distribution is decoded and, according to the decode result, streaming distribution of the contents is requested anew so as to provide the contents to a user.
