摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR control device for an internal combustion engine, for performing evacuation operation without promoting deterioration in combustion, even if fuel injection pressure is lowered. SOLUTION: An ECU sets a target overlap amount OVP to be equal to a limit overlap amount OVL (a step S30). Increase in internal EGR amount of a gasoline engine is reduced to perform a cold VVT control without promoting degradation in combustion caused by overlap. The ECU compares a detected cooling water temperature to a reference water temperature (a step S31). When the cooling water temperature is lower than the reference water temperature (No in the step S31), the ECU performs the cold VVT control while continuously making the target overlap amount OVP be equal to the limit overlap amount OVL, so that the internal combustion engine is operated until the detected cooling water temperature is higher than the reference water temperature.
