METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYMER HYDROGEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer hydrogel capable of stably developing higher extensibility in a hydrogel having a three-dimensional network of a water-swelling clay mineral with a polymer of a water-soluble organic monomer. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polymer hydrogel comprises dissolving or uniformly dispersing (A) a fluorine-modified clay mineral and/or a clay mineral modified with an amide group- or hydroxy group-containing organic molecule, (B) a water-soluble organic monomer and (C) a polymerization initiator into water or a mixed solvent of water with an organic solvent and polymerizing the water-soluble organic monomer.
