Door activated air curtain unit (1) has at least one air heating means and at least one air moving fan. The control system comprises a timer, means for detecting the opening and closing of the door and means for controlling the operation of the air heating means and the air moving fan. The control system operatively controls the deactivation of the air curtain unit in response to detecting the closing of the door. The control system also operatively controls the reactivation of the air curtain unit in response to detecting the opening of the door.
