<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool equipped with a cooling mechanism capable of efficiently suppressing heat conduction. <P>SOLUTION: A spindle motor which is a heating element, and a spindle head provided with a spindle driven by a spindle motor, are connected through a cooling flange 3. The cooling flange 3 is provided with a cooling passage 4 gradually enlarged in cross-sectional area from a gas inlet 4a to a gas discharge port 4b. When high pressure gas is filled from the gas inlet 4a, the high pressure gas is adiabatically expanded and cooled by the cooling passage gradually increased in cross-sectional area, and conduction of heat generated at the spindle motor, to the spindle head is suppressed by the cooling flange 3. Unlike the case of simply allowing refrigerant gas to flow, a cooling effect by adiabatic expansion is also utilized to efficiently prevent/suppress heat conduction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
