PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic object detector capable of detecting precisely the existence of a metallic object, and capable of enhancing a degree of freedom for a setting position for a loop coil. SOLUTION: This metallic object detector of the present invention has the loop coil, a pulse impressing means for impressing a pulse voltage onto the loop coil, a measuring means for obtaining a time data from a time of impressing the voltage onto the loop coil up to a time when a voltage between terminals of the loop coil traverses a threshold value, and a determination means for recognizing the existence of the metallic object in the vicinity of the loop coil, based on a series of the time data.
