PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine for ensuring data transmission/reception in the case of the use of an IP network. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine 10a applies a first connection request to a communication network switching unit 20b to be connected to a telephone number of the IP network of a transmission destination via a sender line 40a, the IP network 100, and a line 60a, and thereafter, applies a second connection request to be connected to a telephone number of a PSTN network of the transmission destination via a line 40a, the IP network 100, a line 50, the PSTN network 200, and a line 60b by switching an IP telephone number of the IP network of the transmission destination into a fixed telephone number of the public switched telephone network after a line fault of the IP network is used for a trigger. Further, the facsimile machine 10a switches the IP network of a sender into the public switched telephone network and applies a third connection request to be connected to the telephone number of the PSTN network of the transmission destination via a line 40b, the PSTN network 200, and the line 60b after the second connection request by using a line fault of the public switched telephone network as a trigger.
