<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reading accuracy and to shorten reading time in a bar code reader reading optical information such as a bar code. <P>SOLUTION: The bar code reader 1 comprises: a light emitting section 11 emitting reading light 18 for reading information of the bar code 17; a scanning driving section 12 scanning the reading light 18 emitted from the light emitting section 11 so that the reading light is directed to one scanning direction and other scanning direction differing from the one scanning direction; a sensor section 13 receiving reflection light 19 reflected from the bar code 17 to convert the reflection light into an electrical signal; a decode section 14 decoding the information on the basis of the electrical signal from the sensor section 13; a storage section 15 storing the information decoded by the decoding section 14; and a synthesis section 16 obtaining one decoding result on the basis of a decoding result obtained by scanning in the one scanning direction and a decoding result obtained by scanning in the other scanning direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
