PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magenta toner to be used for developing an electrostatic charge image formed by a full-color image forming method such as an electrophotographic method, an electrostatic recording method and an electrostatic printing method, wherein high image density, extremely sharp chroma and excellent reproducibility of a highlight (halftone) portion are attained. SOLUTION: The toner containing a binder resin and a colorant, contains at least the colorant expressed by general formula (1). In formula (1), each of R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group, and each of X<SB>1</SB>to X<SB>10</SB>represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, aralkyl group, acylamino group, hydroxyl alkyl group, acyl group, amino group, hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, cyano group, alkylsulfonyl group or sulfonamide group.
