PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant composition applicable to a polyester or a plastic for improving a flame-retardant property of the polyester or the plastic. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant composition contains the mixture of at least a silver nanoparticle and a clay. A silver ion is mixed with the clay and the silver ion in the clay is reduced by a reducing agent to form the silver nanoparticle. In the step of forming a chip having the flame-retardant property, the clay containing the silver nanoparticle is added to the polyester and mixed. The chip having the flame-retardant property is heated to produce a fiber. And then, the product having the flame-retardant property is formed by a spinning of the fiber. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
