The invention relates to a method for transferring data on an electrical supply line (10) in a motor vehicle between an emitting point and a receiving point. According to the invention, a carrier signal (48) is emitted (46) on the supply line (10), and the signal is modulated at the emitting point and is demodulated (66) at the receiving point. The carrier signal (48) is advantageously generated at a carrier generating point that differs from the emitting point. The invention also relates to the use of this method for a transfer of data between a receiving point and a number of emitting points of which one at a time is active.
