METHOD FOR MEASURING A MAILPIECE THICKNESS

The inventive method for measuring the thickness (e) of a flat mailpiece (1) by laser beam reflection (LZ) consists in catching said mailpiece by means of an elastically deformable member (3) which has a first surface (4a) contacting the face of said mailpiece and a second reflecting surface (4b) substentially parallel to said first surface and in directing the laser bean towards the second reflecting surface (4b) in order to measure the thickness of the mailpiece.
