APPARATUS FOR MONITORING IMAGE QUALITY OF TRANSMITTED IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for monitoring the image quality of transmitted images on the basis of an image quality feature quantity of the images at each point even when the images are transmitted through a transmission path in which a plurality of transmission apparatuses are connected in cascade and which is configured to include system converters. SOLUTION: The system converter located on the way of the transmission path 1 converts a video image of the 625/50 system into a video image of the 525/60 system and the converted video image is transmitted through the transmission path 1. A scanning line thinning means 2 at an input side of the transmission path 1 thins scanning lines from the video image of the 625/50 system and a field (frame) thinning means 4 at an output side thins fields of the 525/60 system to apparently match the formats with each other at first. Thereafter image quality feature quantity extract sections 3, 5 extract image quality feature quantities and transmit them to a central monitor room 6. A comparison means 7 of the central monitor room 6 compares the transmitted image quality feature quantities to monitor the image quality of the transmitted image on the transmission path 1.
