PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for recording video images whose recording capacity is in excess of the simultaneously recordable capability of one recording apparatus. SOLUTION: Many video recording apparatuses are always connected to a broadbanded network and share video recording operations and recording areas with each other by mutually providing inoperative resources by means of cooperation. Each AV recording apparatus ordinarily records video images in its built-in storage device. However, on the occurrence of a video recording request whose recording capacity exceeds the simultaneously recordable capability, the video recording apparatus utilizes the inoperative resources of the other video recording apparatuses cooperated on the network to record the video images on request. Thus, a multi-channel large capacity video recording system can be realized without the need for imposing much load on one video recording apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
