PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solution of a cellulose compound from which a film having excellent optical characteristics is produced. SOLUTION: The solution of the cellulose compound comprises the cellulose compound, a naphthalene compound substituted with at least one of -COR<SP>1</SP>(R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a substituent) and an organic solvent. Preferably, the naphthalene compound is represented by the general formula (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>11</SP>and R<SP>12</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent).
