PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing an asymmetric ligand and a method for synthesizing an intermediate therefor in few steps and at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing the intermediate for the asymmetric ligand comprises the following process: A compound of formula[1] is reacted with a compound of formula[2] to form a compound of formula[3], which is then tosylated and cyclized to form a compound of formula[4]. A phosphine oxide is then introduced into the compound of formula[4], which is then dihydroxylated to obtain the objective intermediate of formula[5]. In the formula[1], R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each H, an alkyl or aryl. In the formula[2], Y is O, N or S; and n is 1-3. In the formula[3], R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each H, an alkyl or aryl; Y is O, N or S; and n is 1-3. In the formula[4], R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each H, an alkyl or aryl; Y is O, N or S; and n is 1-3.
