A method for producing hydrogen, characterized in that a hydrogen-removing means using a hydrogen separating membrane is provided in a flow reaction tube having a catalyst carried by a carrier comprising a thermally conductive metal support containing a metal oxide layer omnipresent in a surface portion thereof, a hydrocarbon having a cyclohexane ring is dehydrogenated to prepare hydrogen and an aromatic hydrocarbon, and a component mainly containing hydrogen is permeated through the hydrogen separating membrane and removed as a permeated component and a component mainly containing an aromatic hydrocarbon is obtained as a non-permeated component, while the above dehydrogenation reaction is allowed to proceed. The above method solves problems in the production of hydrogen by the dehydrogenation of a raw material oil, such as separation, a low temperature reaction and heat supply, and allows the production of hydrogen with good efficiency.
