The cross-connector has optical switches (OS1, OS2) to which corresponding time division multiplexed signals are fed, respectively. The switches feed the channels branching from the corresponding optical signals to respective optical combiners (OK1, OK2). The switches are controlled by optical control signals. Delay units are arranged between the switches and combiners, and permit periodical synchronization of the multiplexed signals. An independent claim is also included for a Mach-Zehender arrangement in combination with photo-diodes that are utilized as optical switches.
