<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a region extraction method for extracting a target region accurately by reducing the extraction of a non-target region. <P>SOLUTION: In a region extraction method which enables the target region to be binarized and extracted from a plurality of slice images to produce a three-dimensional model image, a search subject region is sequentially set on an adjacent slice image based on the subject region specified in a key slice image and is binarized. In the processing performed on one slice image, first circulation processing where the processing from a step for setting the search subject region to the binarizing step is repeated until the subject region to be extracted hardly changes and second circulation processing where the subject to be processed is moved to the adjacent slice image, the direction of the movement is reversed when the positions of the slice images to be processed reach both ends of the whole slice image, and the first circulation processing is repeated until the subject region to be extracted for the whole slice image hardly changes are included. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
