<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for hydrogenolysis of halogen-containing organic compounds, which is used for a reaction to decompose carbon-halogen bonds in a halogen-containing compound by using a molecular-state hydrogen, shows a high activity even under a mild condition, makes it possible to perform an effective dehalogenation of a polyhalogenated organic compound, is high in the selectivity for an object reaction, easy to manufacture, and can be used again, and to provide a hydrogenolytic method using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for hydrogenolysis of halogen-containing organic compounds is formed by containing a hydroxyapatite expressed by the formula (1): Ca<SB>10-Z</SB>(HPO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>Z</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>6-Z</SB>(OH)<SB>2-Z</SB>-nH<SB>2</SB>O, [in the formula, Z is a number of 0≤Z≤1, (n) is a number of 0 to 2.5], at least a precious metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, and iridium carried by the hydroxyapatite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
